Assignments 4.13-18.20

Please complete the following for the week of April 13- 18, 2020 Please watch Hamilton from the link below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5w73dNLqycg&feature=youtu.be If you are unable to access the video, please listen to the soundtrack found on Spotify or YouTube. While you are watching, think about how Lin Manuel Miranda brought back people from history through music. How was he able to make Alexander Hamilton, Aaron Burr, Angelica Schuyler, King George, George Washington, etc. come alive through Music? (MHSIC.9 ; MHAC.9) Now I want you to think about how YOU could make a notable person in history come to life. Please choose a notable person in history that you could bring back to life through music. Some examples would be: Fred Rogers, Martin Luther King Jr, Sonia Sotomayor, Frida Kahlo, Ludwig Van Beethoven, Oprah, Ellen, William Shakespear, Barack Obama, etc. Then I want you to think about what genre of music would bring them back to life. Miranda decided to bring back our founding fathers through rap/musical theater. What genre of music would you choose to give life to your notable person? Write a verse with a chorus from the musical that you would create that highlights an aspect of your historical figure’s life. (MHSIC.5; MHSAC.5). Be creative and try to find a historical figure that you are unfamiliar with. Use this as a way to learn facts about someone historically important that you were unaware of. Please send all of this in a word document via Google Classroom or email by Friday, April 18th. Let me know if you have any questions. :) - Ms. Palmer
